This beach in Hong Kong is one of the cleanest I've ever visited. The water is so clear that you can see small fishes, crabs, and clams. It's perfect for kids with its fine sand and shaded area available all day if you didn't bring a tent. There are also lifeguard services and shower/changing rooms provided. The easiest way to get here is by taking bus #14 from Sai Wan Ho station (exit A).
I visited this beach for the first time in October 22. Despite the lifeguard services being suspended, it felt like paradise on earth. The water was crystal clear and there were only two other swimmers. I had the floating platform all to myself for a long sunbathing session. I also checked the shark net at the outer edge of the swimming area and was relieved to find no major holes.
Turtle Cove can be easily accessed from Chaiwan by minibus or the Number 14 bus from Grand Promenade at Sai Wan Ho. It is a small and very quiet beach with a great view of the open ocean, sky, and mountains in the background. It is perfect for swimming and feels like a private beach. The only downside is that you have to walk about 150 meters down from the main road Tai Tam Road near Red Hill to reach it. However, once you make your way back up to the main road, you have the option to explore the trails of Tai Tam Reservoir at the south entrance or visit the Tai Tam Bay pier. It is definitely worth spending half a day here. This review was written on June 24, 2022.
The beach is small, quiet, and clean with good shower and change room facilities. Unfortunately, the barbeque area was damaged by Typhoon Mangkhut in October 2018. Bus #14 from Stanley or San Wan Ho stops right at the beach, where you can take about 300 steps down to the shore. Keep in mind that the beach faces South, so there is no sun after 4pm.
The beach is small and peaceful, with all the necessary facilities like bathrooms and showers that you would find at other beaches in Hong Kong. To access the beach, you will need to descend several flights of stairs. There are no vendors selling food or drinks on the beach, so it's advisable to purchase these items before heading down. Fortunately, there is a mall just two blocks away from the entrance where you can find refreshments.
