So unjust and such and shame and that land owners are restricting public access to government owned foreshore. They claim it is part of lost valley but it's not, they have blocked off the coastline access to this beautiful beach. Not only that but they aren't caring for it. They are damaging the area of natural beauty by adding concrete posts and fencing that animals can get trapped and hurt in. There were also large barrels of god knows what dumped on shore. Certainly the sign they posted is false! Something should be done about the situation. They are clearly just greedy and trying to make access to the beach exclusive to people that pay €25 per adult for a tour of their land.
Amazing beach between Silver Strand and Killary Harbour. Awkward to get to but well worth the effort. Respect landowner rights... but don't believe any propaganda or deflection you may come across... there is no such thing as a private beach in Ireland!
The propietary was so impolite. We wanted to visit Uggool beach, and the road seemed to be closed. There where some letters, signals, fences and a cctv camera to forbide the pass. Suddenly, this landowner appeared and after asking him if we could visit the beach, he told us to pay 25€ for his guided farm visit. Finally, we turn around with the car. It's a shame that people want to do busines in public spaces. Nature *must* be for everybody.
Country national treasure stolen from public by greedy local family to generate extra cash. No access given to coast line which is in breach of many regulations. Justice will always prevail.
The scandal of aggressively blocked access by a local smallholder to this public beach continues. When will Mayo Council take action to put a stop to this? An embarrassment to Mayo and Ireland.
