This beach was truly amazing! It's perfect for families with children. When I wasn't feeling well, they took great care of me by sending me tea and checking in on me. I can't express how much I adore this place. The female chef even made special eggs for my baby girl. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality! 👏🩷🩷🩷
The room had a lovely ocean view, but there were insects on the coffee table during my entire stay despite the staff's efforts to spray the room. The breakfast selection was great with plenty of options. Unfortunately, the service was lacking as the room cleaning was not completed despite multiple requests throughout my stay. The in-room dining attendant was very kind. There were very few vegetarian food options available.
The resort was amazing! We only stayed for one night because our flight was canceled. Despite being a large complex, the hotel felt very private. The adults-only pool was fantastic and the beach was clean and well-maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious. The only downside was that the floors in the rooms were extremely slippery, even when dry, which was quite dangerous. I also got bitten a few times, so make sure to wear bug spray!
The beautiful, well-maintained property provided a delightful experience. With lush gardens, fantastic beaches, and an exclusive adult pool, the property also offers a private island and a variety of activities that enhance the stay. The hotel had a diverse crowd and struck a nice balance between being welcoming and upscale without feeling too fancy. Despite having 200 rooms, the property never felt overcrowded, which was a positive aspect. We stayed in one of the new and spacious Frangipani rooms with a lovely ocean view. While the interior had a slightly corporate feel in some areas, it was still enjoyable. Unfortunately, our room wasn't ready at check-in, which was not handled well by the reception staff. We saw one of the older rooms, which seemed in need of renovation. However, we learned that there are plans for extensive renovations, especially in the main areas, in 2024. The breakfast at the main house was excellent, but the beach breakfast could use more options. The Indian restaurant on the property comes highly recommended, while the other restaurants didn't quite justify their upscale prices. Live music at the beach and in the bar was a highlight, featuring talented musicians, some of whom are well-known on the island. Overall, the service was excellent but had some inconsistencies. While some staff members went above and beyond, others seemed lacking in motivation. One drawback is the high prices charged by local taxi drivers if you want to leave the hotel. Renting a car is a better option for exploring the island, where there are also some nice restaurants nearby. Lastly, the recommended boat trip allowed us to visit a waterfall, see dolphins, and explore the beautiful waters surrounding the island. In conclusion, this hotel is a hidden gem with its stunning property, great beaches, and warm upscale atmosphere. While there are a few areas for improvement, our overall experience was fantastic. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway.
This was my 8th visit to the beautiful island of Mauritius and I definitely plan on coming back again. We've always wanted to stay at the Shangri-La here and we're excited for our upcoming stay. The service at the hotel is top-notch, the staff are amazing, Chef Ahmed and his team whip up delicious dishes, and we enjoyed every meal at the buffet restaurant. The waitstaff are all fantastic. Although we had some issues at one of the restaurants, the staff quickly resolved them. The hotel is a bit outdated and in need of a renovation, but I believe that's in the works. The property itself is stunning and the beach is absolutely beautiful. Our room had a lovely view of the beach and was comfortable. I'm sure once the hotel is renovated, it will meet the standards of other Shangri-La hotels. The hotel is a bit far from Port Louis and Grand Baie, so I recommend renting a car for a day trip. It's definitely worth the drive. I can't wait to come back once the renovations are complete.
