The beach was really crowded and it was quite frustrating as someone who is not from the area to receive a parking ticket. The parking lot at the edge of the beach had very minimal signage indicating that paid parking was necessary. We arrived at a busy street towards the end of the parking spaces and there was no clear indication that payment was required, except for a small sign posted about 50 spaces away. It seems like they intentionally made it discreet so they could easily give out tickets. It was a disappointing way to end the afternoon.
The beach near Kennebunkport is small and has lifeguards on duty. There are porta potties available and dogs are not allowed during the summer season from Memorial Day to Labor Day. They also have a substantial playscape. However, parking is limited so you may need to park on a nearby sideroad and walk a block or so to the beach. It is a family-friendly beach and admission is free.
This beach is a wonderful addition to our list of favorite beaches around the world. The sand is incredibly soft and white, creating a velvety texture. The overall atmosphere is delightful, and the surroundings are peaceful with friendly neighbors. Plus, the name of the beach is simply the best! It truly feels like paradise.
The beach was a bit small and as others mentioned, the parking situation was terrible. However, it was really beautiful and well-maintained. The playground seemed to be quite popular. Unfortunately, it wasn't very wheelchair accessible. The mat that was supposed to make it easier for wheelchairs or anything with wheels was just haphazardly thrown down, making it still very difficult to use. There were four porta potties available, but the "handicap" one, although slightly larger, had a rusty handrail and was out of toilet paper. The other porta potties were fairly clean, but they did have a slight smell from being in the sun. The beach was a bit crowded and the parking lot was completely full. I had to park on a nearby street, but when I returned to my car an hour later, a community service patrolman informed me that parking was actually not allowed on either side of the street because there were no signs put up. So, I guess it's best to avoid parking on the one-way streets. On the bright side, it was an easy walk with smooth sidewalks along the main road.
I really enjoy going to Mother's Beach because it's a unique beach where families can come together. If you're looking for a beach where you can bring your kids to relax in the sun, then this beach is perfect for you. However, if you're looking for a place to party and make a lot of noise, then you won't have a good time at this family-friendly beach. Mother's Beach offers a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean through a cove that stretches north across Goochs Beach in Kennebunk. It's a small rocky beach that also has a fenced-in playground with swings, slides, and a jungle gym attached to it. There are available portable devices and handicap parking spaces, as well as a handicap ramp that leads down to the beach. Parking is metered on an hourly basis.
